One of favourite one-and-done outfits for casual summer elegance is a simple A-line dress with sneakers and crossbody bag. This dress has a really flattering tie front detail, with a teeny cut out to give it a twist. This 100% cotton embroidery Anglaise in nude rose is also incredibly cool, with the recent heat waves in Joburg that’s a must for me.
Bump into me during mid-summer, and I’ll probably be wearing some version of this outfit- either in the form of a dress or a skirt with a casual cropped top of some kind, a flat shoe and a hat. My wardrobe is filled with similar A-line dresses with small slight twists- a cutout there or a small, unconventional print here. It’s like a little uniform I put on at least once a week- OK maybe twice a week if I’m feeling lazy when I get dressed. Another basic with a twist that I’m currently obsessed with are these adidas Stan Smiths. Yes, I’m late to the party on the white sneaker front, but I’ve been eyeing Stan Smith’s for a while now and when I saw this pair I fell for them instantly. You can’t see it in the photos, but this pair has a debossed polka dot and I’m a sucker for anything with a polka dot.
The hat is a repeat offender on the blog, it’s a boater I picked up at Factory last summer, but if you’re looking a similar one try Witchery. Switching it up for the evening is easy, a simple strappy heel, a chain bag and a red lip with the same ladylike dress makes it completely different.
