This dress by Revolt was made for twirling, dancing, playing in the sunshine and staring up and the night skies. I’m not usually drawn to florals, but this dark, gypsy print had me at ‘hello’. Especially with the lace and ribbons around the straps, neck and hemline. And while it’s peak festive season the need to dress up for functions has me wanting the exact opposite- to just dress down and chill out. So while this masterpiece dress would look amazing with strappy heels and some fringed earrings- I just want to be able to run and play all day in something pretty. That’s why I wore it with white sneakers and very little jewellery.
A little bit more about Revolt. This brand is more than just cool threads. My friend and fellow blogger Luyanda Madonia is also the founder and CEO of Revolt. Luyanda founded Revolt because she saw girls who loved shopping from internationally selected trends… but hated malls. With South Africa’s abundance of malls and fast-fashion, it can be daunting to find something off-beat that you won’t see every other girl wearing. And so Revolt was born as an online store. Luyanda selects unusual pieces on buying trips she makes throughout the year. By going to different locations each time, she makes sure she can find something different each season and she buys in limited quantities. Revolt is here for the wild women, who do and any wear what they like with the utmost confidence. Like Luyanda says, it’s clothing for badass babes. Plain and simple.
