Local footwear brand Galago has just released a dramatic lookbook for their latest summer campaign, showcasing the brand’s increasing range of shoes against a striking backdrop of coal. Reminiscent the stark splendour seen in African landscapes, the collection’s bright hues and earthy tones pop against the deep blackout.
Lensed by upcoming photographer Zander Opperman, with styling by fashion’s golden boy Rich Mnisi, who is fast showing himself to be an all-rounder in addition to an award winning designer, Galago’s founder and director Adiahambo Mula Lauwers gathered a strong, youthful team. Product imagery is contrasted with arresting portrait shots of the campaign faces, Emy Ozori and Francis Buseko. Adiahambo started Galago with a ‘Design Your Own’ sandal and last year expanded into ladies pumps and men’s footwear. This season the brand’s staple sandal has upped the anti with wrap around straps and rope detailing; refreshing embellishments like raffia flowers, shells, beaded motifs and metal studs against African prints are also a welcome update.
